Luke 2:11…

Luke 2:11…

Everything that has happened before in the history of the world points to this verse.

Everything that has happened since in the history of the world points to this verse.

Everything that will happen hereafter points to this verse.

The setting?

The shepherds were keeping watch over their flocks by night when suddenly they had something to watch for!!! An angel of the Lord approached them and stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them.

It was such an awesome sight they were greatly afraid. And with good reason. To be in the presence of such power is something humans cannot rightly bear. They were terrified at the sight. They cowered in the presence of such awesome power.

The angel told them not to be afraid. In fact, from this moment forward, they would never need to be afraid again.

For you see, the angel also made the marvelous declaration of the end of the enmity between God and man – an enmity that had begun in the Garden with the fall of man. An enmity that had made a separation between God and man so great no man could look upon God and live. (That man would be consumed in God’s fire of holiness and righteousness.)

But now, an invitation was given to those men, (the shepherds,) – and indeed to all of mankind – to look upon God, and not only not to die, but to live, and not only to live, but to live forever!

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

The invitation was given to go see Him! And with the invitation an explanation of how they may find Him, given in great detail. (There could be/would be no mistaking Who He was.)

And likewise the invitation has come and goes to all mankind. To YOU. Today. A Savior is born. Will you see Him?
