1 Corinthians 15:1…
Let’s remember why we do what we do: the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Church is not a social organization, cultural helps group, community improvement agency or anything of the sort.
The Church is here because of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Church is here for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
This is such an important reminder because it clears out all the associated human frictions involved with all the questions of practice and doctrine Paul has been dealing with which have been taking place in the church at Corinth. All vestiges of selfishness should (and must) disappear in any environment where the focus is and remains the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
But, praise the Lord for THIS chapter of God’s Word! In this chapter we have one of the clearest descriptions of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and how it works – not only theologically but logically as well.
In this chapter, all your questions pertaining the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ may be answered.
The questions tackled by Paul are gigantic ones. The kind of questions rolling around in everyone’s minds – both believers and unbelievers alike.
Did Jesus really rise from the dead? How can we know this actually happened?
What would our lives be like if Jesus had not actually risen from the dead?
What does Jesus’ resurrection mean for me? How does the fact He rose from the dead have any bearing on my life, and my possibility of being raised from the dead?
Is there any place in this life where we can observe resurrection so we can know it is possible?
How did Adam’s life and fall affect me – and how can Jesus’ life and resurrection change the condition I was born into?
How did Jesus conquer death – and what IS death, really?
The answers to these questions and more make our sense of self-importance and self-regard fade away into the place of understanding these are the things EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW.
