2 Corinthians 4:7…

2 Corinthians 4:7…

Paul is informing the church at Corinth why he does not lose heart in his calling as a minister of the message of the New Covenant of God. (The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.)

The main reason is the presence of the Holy Spirit alive in his heart. In this, he is explaining to them exactly what the New Covenant declares – and exemplifying by the power of God alive in him he is not like any normal human delivering a normal human message. Much more than that, he is a messenger of God delivering the message of God by the power of God.

In other words, “It ain’t me folks. It IS God alive in me.”

When the Spirit of the Living God is alive in your heart it is both glorifying and humbling at the same time.

In order for the greatness of the message of God to be the focus rather than the greatness of the man delivering the message, God has chosen the weak things of this world to be the vessel of His message. Jesus would not have the man sharing His truth be glorified, as it would cloud the delivery and obfuscate its meaning.

And, it is folly for any man to think himself great anyway, though many do. It is also folly for others to think any man great as well – though this is also prevalent among men.

Paul realizes men are but dust. A miraculously wonderful compilation of the same chemical elements common dirt is comprised of. And science agrees. Man is made of the same 17 base chemical elements found in our back yard. The only thing special or valuable about man is the value God places upon his soul, which is born by the body of dust. The body will fall and face corruption – but every soul is eternal.

God places such a high value on the souls of men He sent His only Son to die to pay the price for the sin of men to provide eternal fellowship for every man who will with Holy God.

While men are on earth, while men are made of earth, Holy God has done an extraordinary thing by investing Himself within the body of any man who desires His Spirit to be made alive in their common vessel. This is what it means to be ‘born again.’ When you place your faith in Christ for the forgiveness of your sin, and trust in His power of your salvation by belief in the resurrection of Christ, God makes Himself alive in you. You are never the same from that moment forward. The Spirit of the Living God has been ‘born again’ in you as it was in Adam prior to the fall of man.

And this message of the forgiveness of sin and renewed fellowship with God is so extraordinary and wonderful the Spirit of God alive in the common vessel of any man cannot help but share the message. No matter what.
