Acts 2:42…

Acts 2:42…

If you were going to start a church what should you do?

(That may or may not be a question you have thought about – as not many people are faced with starting a church.)

But what if you were choosing which church to attend and to be a part of and fellowship with? What kind of church should you look for? What should the church you attend be doing?

Really, it’s the same question. (What should you do if you are starting a church – what should the church you choose to attend be doing?)

It all comes down to the vision those starting the church have for the church. Is it their vision – or is it God’s vision?

Where would we be if we didn’t know exactly what God wanted His Church to be doing?

Thankfully, God has informed us of His vision for His Church, and we do know exactly what He desires His Church to be doing.

God tells us what He desires His Church to be doing right here, in the Book of Acts, chapter 2, verse 42: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine, and  fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

It isn’t complicated. In fact, it’s so simple anyone can do it. Educated, uneducated, it doesn’t matter – anyone can follow God’s vision and desire for His Church.

Now the question is: Is this what the church you attend is doing? If not, you need to find a church that is. For church leaders, the question is the same: Is this what the church you lead is doing? If not, you need to change what your church is doing.

I think it is very important to see the Church from God’s perspective. What kind of church is God looking for? When we get to the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ we see Jesus standing at the door of His Church, knocking to see if anyone will even notice He is not inside.
